Learning to Listen Assessment
Learning to Listen Assessment and Training
Learning to Listen is an effective communication course that helps individuals develop their strengths and improve upon their weaknesses so they are better equipped to handle customer complaints, negotiate contracts, manage teams, and more. Participants will benefit from immediate and lasting performance improvement through the simple art of effective listening.
The assessment determines listening effectiveness in three dimensions. With the optional classroom course, participants explore the visible and invisible aspects of listening, learn what it takes both physically and mentally to listen, understand common barriers to effective listening, and create a plan to put new skills into immediate action.
Learning Outcomes:
How does it work?
The Learning to Listen self-assessment is available in both online and print formats and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
Using one-on-one conversations as a frame of reference, individuals respond to a series of 30 statements. Results reveal an overall listening effectiveness score as well as sub-scores in three dimensions: staying focused, capturing the message, and helping the speaker.
Learning to Listen can be used as the centerpiece of a stand-alone workshop on listening skills. The workshop lasts approximately 3 hours when participants take the online self-assessment in advance. It can be delivered online or in-person. It can also be incorporated into broader training programs on topics such as:
- Communication
- Performance Coaching
- Customer service
- Needs assessment
- Selling skills
- Supervising
- Negotiating
- Giving and receiving feedback
